SpecWizard is a free, quiz-driven PC hardware advisor. We help people who don't have the time or expertise to research every CPU, GPU, and SSD on the market. Instead, you answer ten straightforward questions about how you'll use your computer, and our recommendation engine does the rest.
The result is a clear, personalised hardware specification — complete with plain-English explanations of why each component was chosen and direct Amazon search links so you can start shopping immediately.
Why We Built This
Buying a computer should be simple, but the sheer volume of options, specs, and jargon makes it overwhelming for most people. We saw friends and family struggle with questions like "How much RAM do I need?" or "Is this GPU good enough for what I do?" and decided to build something that answers those questions in under two minutes.
SpecWizard is designed to be:
- Fast — the quiz takes under two minutes, and results are instant.
- Clear — every recommendation comes with a plain-English explanation.
- Unbiased — we recommend based on your answers, not on which brand pays us the most.
- Free — no signup, no paywall, no ads.
How It Works
The quiz asks about your primary use case (gaming, content creation, office work, etc.), your budget, preferred form factor, screen preferences, and how long you want your machine to last. Our client-side recommendation engine then maps your answers to a complete spec — processor, memory, storage, graphics, display, and operating system — using a decision matrix refined with real-world hardware data.
Once you have your spec, we provide Amazon search links for complete systems (laptops or prebuilt desktops) and individual components (for desktop builders). You know exactly what to look for before you spend a single dollar.
